The « dating » culture is a very important element in the lives of Americans: more than 1 of 3 couples meet on a dating website!
Serious dating or romantic adventures, 40 million of Americans are addicted to dating!
A lot of couples meet at work, however, the vast majority uses nowadays online dating sites and social media as a tool to help the magic of love happen!
Match.com and eHarmony remain the two preferred sites by the Americans to start their romantic adventure: general dating sites which work through matchmaking dating in order to find matches who would create lasting relationships.
Singles are mainly located in big cities as Sex and the City already showed us: no surprise that New York remains the destination of singles with more than 50% of people living alone…. Were you looking for love in the USA? Washington also has around 70% of singles…
Americans are big users of online dating, 40% of them tend to actually Google their partner before the first date !
In the States, women tend to prefer humour and compliments for seduction rather than a physical approach, considered rude. Although not all online dates will guarantee lasting love, lots of them manage to create a long-term serious relationship, hence reinforcing the status and popularity of online dating sites.
It is also surprising that amongst those who met online, there’s a certain tendency to break up through texts, email or social media… a new approach that is irritating the most romantic ones!
But, are we that different to Americans? We are not that sure…
